It's already almost August (how?! 😳) and just last night I finally sat down and started looking at curriculum for this upcoming school year. In fact, these books have been sitting here in our dining room since this past school year. Untouched. I don't know if it's pure exhaustion at the end of each day that has kept me from getting in gear and planning or just not wanting to think about summer ending. Whatever the case, today I'm thankful for Amazon and quick shipping! So if you've read this far, do you have any favorite book recommendations for our 3rd grade independent reading list? ✏️ 🍎 📚

My sister @tgconners and I have been talking for a while about starting up an Instagram home store. It won't be anything fancy, but it will be a great way to spend time doing one of our favorite things and a fun way to meet others who enjoy decorating their homes as much as we do. I took the glass sliding doors off to clean them and now I can't decide if I should put them back on or leave it like this. But kids. I distinctly remember when Emery was a little baby and remarking to Dustin that she would be the oldest, the big sister one day and wasn't that a strange thought? And now she is 8 and a big sister to four little siblings. Sometimes I put more pressure on her than the others because she's the oldest. I expect more out of her because of her age. And then I realize that one day our youngest will be her age and 8 will seem so little! It's all about perspective and doing our very best to enjoy our children at every age and stage. #preachingtomyself #emeryesther

This morning we all got soaked on our way into and out of church. Our pastor preached a somber sermon about grief and loss. It reminded me of my own losses and the losses that so many others I know have had or are currently experiencing. Those babies that we'll get to hold one day but not today. Not yet. • After lunch the sun came out and streamed through the windows, the skies turned bright blue, and we made ice cream cones with colorful sprinkles, took a walk to the lake, back home, and then back to the lake again to get the shoes that BOTH boys left there. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 • Today was a good reminder that God is sovereign, He knows our hurt and feels our pain, the pain that doesn't always go away. He doesn't promise us easy and comfortable, but even in the sorrow He is still good, he gives us the sun and the rain, and He loves us still.
